All she wrote for Houston

That's it and that's all for the Houston Rockets folks. Yeah, they're only down 0-2, and yeah, they aren't technically eliminated, but they just lost two games at home, and are heading on the road where the Jazz are 37-4. They don't have the depth, they don't have the strength, and they don't have the energy to come back from this deficit, just like the in-game deficits.

A lot of the post-game talk, specifically from the Rockets, centered around a controversial call in the waining moments - an offensive foul on Louis Scola that wiped out a game-tying 3 from Bobby Jackson. Rockets, and Rockets fans, you can complain all you want, but that call isn't why you lost the game; and it wasn't the wrong call either.

You lost the game because the Jazz are just better. They're better defensively, they're better offensively, and they're better disciplined - and they know it. And the sad thing is, Rockets and their fans know it too, but it's hard to admit after such a bitter loss. Tracy McGrady isn't going to get out of the first round again, this time in sweeping fashion; and everyone will note how great he played and that it isn't his fault. I just don't think that fact will make him feel any better, considering it wasn't his fault the last handful of series either. The depth and gameplan of the Jazz is specifically created to take out McGrady in the 4th quarter, and with no plan B, the Rockets fizzle. That's why they're confident through the first 3 quarters in keeping it close, or even having a slight lead - that come the 4th quarter, the Rockets just can't beat them.

The Jazz though - they're really good. But most of all, I'm really impressed with Derron Williams. He's a silent assassin. He's not overly athletic, and he looks like he has a lot of baby fat on him still, but he does a great job in getting his shot off, absorbing contact, and changing speeds on his defender. It's not just that, he's a darn good defensive player himself. He's the Tim Duncan of point guards. He isn't flashy, but he's solid and effective. He always makes the right pass and the right decision. This has really been his series.

Rockets are in the inenviable position of being on every Sports Center graphic from here on out to have such an extended regular season winning streak (22), and not win the title. In fact, in just looking at the streak their season is an utter disappointment with their fizzling into, and out of, the playoffs.
