Knicks are going in the right direction
Donnie Walsh is 2 for 2 in his first few decisions as Team President. It's clear that the guy knows what he's doing, and he's already taken huge leaps into making this franchise respectable again on the hardwood.
First, he fires Isiah Thomas, which is a no brainer, but no one's been able to do that for the last some 5 years in the organization. As part of this firing, he reassigned him to be an adviser to the team, a position with no specific responsibilities except to report directly to Donnie Walsh himself. Furthermore, he has no one reporting to him, which is a way of both limiting sexual harassment suits, and his exposure to any team function.
Secondly, Isiah is not allowed to talk to the players. Which is beyond brilliance. It's almost a public humiliation of Thomas, who has publicly humiliated multiple franchises in his time.
According to the report, there is concern that Thomas, if allowed to have any contact with the team, could either willingly or unwillingly undermine its new coach. Thomas acquired all the players on the current Knicks roster as team president.
Newsflash. This is really a way for him to stop ruining players who may still have potential in playing in this league, because he's worked them over pretty good as GM, and coach. If Donnie could further distance himself from Thomas in any way, I look forward to him putting the firing, and figurative tar-and-feathering in a very creative way.
He just Isiah'd Isiah. This guy's a pro.
