Suck it, Frenchie

I'm sure a similar headline rings world wide this morning, as the French lost a sizeable lead in the premier race of the Olympics so far.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not a big fan of the Olympics, but I like to watch here and there. But seeing the US - and maybe because it was the US - come back in an awe-inspiring last 25m sent chills down my spine. I watched it again, knowing the result full well, and it was still the most exciting thing I'd ever seen. I'm not going to bother trying to break it down, because I can't, and I don't know that much about swimming. But what I do know, is that coming back from half-body-length in seemingly the last 40ish meters is just an incredible feat. And how about Jason Lezak not even breathing for seemingly the last 25 meters while making his incredible surge? I wasn't breathing just watching it!

There was not question, that a picture of Phelps and Garrett Weber-Gale screaming and pumping their fists would be plastered on the front pages, and what an incredible site. Phelps keeps his quest alive for an unprecedented 8 gold medals, but let's not forget what Lezak did in his 100m, swimming the fast split in a relay ever. There's no question that the remarks made by the French team fueled him in the last few strides of that race.

[NBC] Leezak saves best for last
